RoHS
The European Parliament ‘s RoHS directive came into effect on July 1st 2006 and limits the use of six hazardous substances in the manufacture of a wide variety of products.
With some exemptions, OEM’s manufacturing and selling products into the EU have to comply with this legislation.
Prior to the compliance deadline, EC committed substantial resources to ensure all our facilities and procurement processes were ready to provide ‘ lead free manufacturing ‘.
Under the supervision our Quality Manager, trials were undertaken with a number of solder pastes, solder fluxes, solder wire and solder bars as well as on a number of pcb finishes.
In addition, substantial investment has been made in new RoHS compliant equipment including two Essemtec lead free reflow convection ovens and one ATF250 lead free wave soldering machine
In terms of materials, where requested, a number of audits were carried out on customers Bills of Materials, down to component level for every assembly manufactured. Each component was queried and verified with suppliers that it was fully RoHS compliant. In summary, we are 100% confident that EC’s complete range of CEM services produce fully RoHS compliant products.
