After the successful introduction of our Romanian service in the summer
of 2006, subsequent growth in demand for our offshore services has created
the need for larger factory premises.
EC has now moved its Romanian operation to a new site in Petrosani with
12,000 sq ft of manufacturing floor space. EC is pleased to announce the successful
completion of the project within forecasted timescales.
The new factory is based in Petrosani. It provides 12000 sq ft of ESD protected
manufacturing floor space. It is set up for dedicated cell manufacturing and complements
facilities in the UK, providing a comprehensive range of services.
Services covered include Cable Assembly ( including Looms & Harnesses ), Surface
Mount and Through Hole PCB Assembly and Full ' box build ' Product Assembly.
The new factory will continue working to internationally recognised IPC workmanship
standards and is fully ISO 9001:2000 approved.
Manufacturing services are fully supported from the UK in terms of procurement and
kitting, logistics and administration. The local line management is Romanian covering
production and quality and reports directly to our UK Operations Director.
Phil Simmonds, Managing Director of EC Electronics Ltd., comments:
‘ We are determined to move our business forward in the current economic climate,
despite the current down turn in demand for Electronic Manufacturing Services world wide.
The new factory sustains our ability to offer UK OEM's highly competitive pricing at low
risk. The combination of low cost European cell manufacturing, with full back-up from the
facilities and processes available in the UK, is proving attractive to OEM’s. It will provide a
platform to maintain the development of our key customer partnerships. Its larger
manufacturing floor area enables us to compete in the market place for new business and
fulfil our growth plans for the future. The additional capacity places us in a strong postion
to cope with the up turn in demand for EMS from UK OEM's, which we believe will happen
over next 12 - 24 months. '
